The Transcarpathian Advocacy and Development Centre had been functioning under the name of Social Foundation of Beregovo by 2006, June. The activities of the Foundation were widened with developing programs and this made the name altering to be necessary. The Social Foundation of Berehovo was founded on the 14th of January 2001. Among the founder members we can find the Swiss Interchurch Aid (HEKS), the Hungarian Interchurch Aid (HIA), and also Ukrainian private individuals. The aim of the establishment is the implementation of social, educational, and humanitarian programs which first of all improves the chances of the socially disadvantaged people. Our work is open and devoted to humanitarian principles. These principles are supported by the Code of Conduct which is represented by the Foundation. The Code of Conduct was worked out in details by the International Red Cross, and the ACT-International (The International Association of Church Relief Organizations), the international institutions of Caritas and UN also keep it. The Code of Conduct- The humanitarian imperative comes first.
- Aid is given regardless of the race, creed or nationality of the recipients and without adverse distinction of any kind. Aid priorities are calculated on the bases of need alone.
- Aid will not be used to further a particular political or religious standpoint.
- We shall endeavour not to act as instruments of government foreign policy.
- We shall respect culture and custom.
- We shall attempt to build disaster response on local capacities.
- Ways shall be found to involve programme beneficiaries in the management of relief aid.
- Relief aid must strive to reduce future vulnerabilities to disaster as well es meeting basic needs.
- We hold ourselves accountable to both those we seek to assist and those from whom we accept resources.
- In our information, publicity and advertising activities, we shall recognise disaster victims as dignified human beings, not hopeless objects.
